Bilstein shock install question
I received my set of Bilsteins today and have a question concerning the plastic boot. I had expected an accordian type boot that was fixed to the shock tube, not the sleeve open at the tube end. My question, upon release of the shipping strap, does the boot get fixed to the shock tube or does it just ride loose? Looks like a trap for dirt.

Re:Bilstein shock install question
The boot is fixed to the top of the shock. It is a way better way to go than a boot fixed to the shock body. Those things always get dirt in there and the boot just holds it where the shaft extends and retracts...bad for seals. Oh, be careful when you cut the strap, the shock will have decent pressure to extend (slowly) but it is hard to push back in.

Let us know how you like them when you install all of them. I got the KYB Monomax's about a month ago and I am just now liking the ride. Very firm. I was told they are almost exactly the same as the Bilsteins.
