Biggest tires on a 3500
I will be needing 6 new tires for my 3500 in alittle while, what is the biggest size I can go to add some height to my truck?

I have 215' on there now from my brothers Chevy 3500, hey they were free what could I say. Stock tires on a 3500 are 235' I think. His Chevy 3500 came with 215' and he wanted bigger so he gave me them 215'.

Although my truck is not a dually, the biggest tire I am able to but on my truck is the 255/85/16 which is basically a little bigger than a 33". I tried the 315/75/16's comperable to a 35" and they fit height wise but when I turned, they rubbed hard. Hope this helps,Mike

You think 255 may rub
Even with the 315's I had more than enough room in the rears, the front's is where I had the problem. I have the 2" leveling kit already on order so I can put the 315's on.

I did have a set of 235' on there before the 215's.
The 255's do really look good on the truck, if you do not want to lift it.

Re:Biggest tires on a 3500
I run 315 75 R 16 A/T's on my 1997 with no problems with rubbing although i have heard a lot of people complain about rubbing i have never had any kind of odd?! what could be the difference???
Anyhow CH here are the differences
235 75R16 = width 9.25 height 29.88
255 85R16 = width 10.04 height 33.07
I would imagine a 255 would fit on there easy enough i mean surely you have 3/4 inch to spare between the dual tires?? adn the height will even be an issue here is my tire size
315 75R16 = width 12.4 height 34.6 and i have no height issues anywhere especially in the rear!!

Re:Biggest tires on a 3500
Hey Cattle Hauler. I have the 235 on my dually. No problems at all. I was told I could run the 255's. I am not for sure. 90% of the time you see the 235. My dad's 2002 has 235 from factory. His tires are a little flatter or should I say a little wider. I think the rim size may have changed. I am not for sure. Look into it.

Re:Biggest tires on a 3500
The rear dually wheels on an '01 and an '02 have more offset than prior model years. You can run most 255's on those models with any weight, and the rear tires won't rub between them. The tires will rub with the dually wheels on a '99. However, I believe that the wheels from an '01 and an '02 will swap onto a '99 axle, so if you're set on 255's you can try that solution.

GP
