Biggest tires with 2" lift on 2500 2wd?
Guys,
I know this has probably been asked a million times, but I could not find the answer I needed so I decided to post this. I am looking at installing a 2" front end lift/leveling kit on my 2002 2500 CTD 2wd. The link to the kit is this: http://store.fatbobsgarage.com/share...t=products.asp
My question is this, with the above kit, what is the largest tire I can run without problems? I don't mind doing some plastic trimming, but I dont want to do any major mods to accept the tires. I am currently running 285/75/16's with no problem. My main reason for wanting to go larger is two fold...one is aesthetics, I love the look of the larger tires. The second reason is that I am trying to offset the 4:11 posi trac rear end I am stuck with! I do 95% highway driving and I can't afford to swap gears so I am opting for larger tires to help offset the gears. I hope someone out there can help me with this as I am buying tires soon. Thanks guys!

im leveled 2" on a 97 and i have 305/70/16's with no rubbing at all. i can run upto a 315/75/16 (being E rated instead of the 305's that are D rated) with no problems still. i dont think you can tuck anything bigger w/o some serious rubbing issues but i might be wrong. i would have bought 315's if i didnt get such a SWEET deal on the 305's. hope this helps

I have 2" frt lift and run 35".... or 315's.
On the stock aluminum rims, you will get minor rubbing on the control arms when you go full turn of the wheel. Full turn is 1 and 3/4 turns of the wheel either way. I just never go farther than 1 and 1/2 turns. A yr ago I switched to 10" weld wheels and now have no rubbing at all.![Smilie](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/smile.gif)
You will not get anything bigger to work without serious body work..., and if you don't have the aluminum 8" wheels, the 35's will be too big.
Note: Sorry. Just realized your 2WD, so I may be wrong on all the above.![Laughing](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/laughing.gif)

285/75R16 and 305/70R16 are very close to the same.
I ran both at the same time on my truck 285 on front and 305 on back, cause i needed tires but didnt like how wide the 305's that came on the truck were, but liked the height. if you really dont like 285's then i would say try the 315's, but to get them to fit you usualy need a lift (i have been told) which you have already, so you should be fine. hope this helps
