If I could afford the insurance and fuel, that would be my daily driver!
I have my doubts that I'd be able to park it in the parking garage here at work.

Im strait piped with no silencer ring and running a BHAF.
It sounds ok, but I found that if you really want the sound of the big trucks you should get one of these:

Never thought of that one.

Beautiful vid. I sent that to my father in law...he is now legally blind but before that, he had his own longnosed PB and trailer. Used to haul produce from Cali to AZ. I'm unsure of the specifics of it, but I drove it a time or 3 and loved it! Way cool!

I ran the straight pipe for about a year..and it did sound good but at about 2k..it had that bad drone. Now that I have a 4" exhaust with a muffler..it does sound quieter but I still dont have the sound that I want.
I heard a truck (class 8) yesterday that sounded great..You could really hear the turbo spool up thru the stacks.
Something like a pair of miter cut 6" stacks would be nice..but it may get loud right behind the cab..

Rick,

I'm sure your exhaust makes a pretty good sound when under load... remember, those big trucks run loaded 99% of the time, so they're WORKING pretty hard most of the time...

anyhow, I would focus on adding some sound deadener to your truck and adding some mass to the pipe to keep it from vibrating so much...

I went from 5" stacks to a 5" straight pipe... the straight pipe was SO much louder at 2500rpm, it was unbelievable!!!

sound deadener and some stiff exhaust hangers, and now it's quieter inside than when I had a muffler on for a brief while!

nothin' wrong w/ stacks, but you might be able to get the sound you're lookin' for with the straight pipe...

even if you go w/ stacks, I'd still recomend some sound deadener. just makes life so much nicer! LOL!
