Does anyone know what the cfm rating is for an HX55W that has the 4" compressor outlet. I was told that it will outflow the HT3B. Is this true? Has anyone evn sen this?

all i can say is good luck, not many people have messed with them. don m is the only one i have know that has run one. i have a brand new one sitting here at the shop, but it has a 5" exhaust outlet on the 19 cm housing. i have not installed it yet, still can't make up my mind. mike

I know Justin Rawlings of Cynthiana KY has blown up 2 of them. You might contact Wesley Wade (dodgeboy59td) for a little more info.

yo gunracer any chance you would sell that turbo? I'd really like it. does it comes with a downpipe? Where did you get it?

I ran the HX55 for just over a year now. It held together at 60PSI for me. I was careful when I remembered not to bark the thing too much. It was good for over 572HP in my truck over 600 in another. With the proper fueling level.

You need an adapter plate to run the stock turbine housing.

My last one came from Columbus Diesel in Ohio. Good folks with fast service. Or if you have the spare time a guy could mill one up pretty fast. I was squeezed for time. Cold rolled steel works fine. I like a copper gasket, others use steel or no gasket if the surface finish is smooth enough.

I wasn't aware that these could still be bought new. Pius at Bell told me that these were the first turbo design for the Sig 600 Cummins and they didn't do what Cummins wanted which led to HX60 being used. Is this true? From what I understood, they were no longer available but could be rebuilt. Does anyone have an idea as to what these are worth? Will they flow more than the HT3B? If they hold 60psi in single form, wouldn't they do fairly well in compounds? SS

They will not flow what a HT3B will. Exception to this is the newest HX55's from Holset. They will outrun a HT3B.
Pius is right about them not being available. Some HX55's of the older design like Mike pictures above are floating around.
This type is way too small for twins.

Well, that answers that question. No use for twins. I have access to about three of the turbos pictured above. They have the flange that fits the Sig 600. Let me now if anyone is interested.

well i have got off my butt and built a couple of adapters for the 55 to bolt to the ats manifold i have for my truck. why did you have your turbo up JR ? is there just not enough room with it down?

JR had been running twins and had the manifold up to make room for the twins. For convience because he knew he would have twins again, so he left the manifold up.
