That, and you give up the cool air draw of the factory box, so the BHAF might be a step backwards.

I'd try an AFE Pro Dry or another DRY filter.

When towing my egt's went up 150-200 deg when I added a bhaf, the turbo sure sounded good though. After a 200 mile drive I went back to the stock box and a napa filter.

What are the options if your factory air box is missing?

Probably just the filter sucking in the heated air around the turbo. I am assuming you didn't use a heat shield?

My Egt's dropped about 50 with the BHAF. I wasn't really going for performence gain, my K&N was just dirty and I also wanted a better sound. And the sound is so much better, so BHAF gets my vote for a cheap nice upgrade.

May want to check out the Amsoil universal dry airfilters Part number Eaau 4510, 4515, several sizes to choose from but the 4.5" ID works best to hook up to the turbo inlet hose. I had the K&N w/the factory box cheezed and noticed oil being sucked into the turbo. An easy change w/plenty of air...about $70 total vs. $200+ for other aftermarkets.
