BHAF Shield?

BHAF Shield?
I have the template all printed out, taped up, and ready to go but I have to know one thing. What gauge and what type of metal have some of you used? I am guessing aluminum so I can polish it up nice but how thick?

Thanks.

John

Re:BHAF Shield?
I just did one last week and used .110 (about 1/8 inch - it's very thick!) thickness aluminum.

I originally planned on using .080 , but I got the 25" x 15" sheet (that's what you need) of .110 for free.

The only problem is the grade that I got is very difficult to bend. I tried using a homemade metal brake, but it didn't work out. I ended up just cutting it with a metal bladed jigsaw and using a small piece of aluminum 1" x1" angle bracket and some stainless bolts and nuts.

The only thing I'll add is that when it's all in and installed, I cut an additional angle to help prevent the top edge from rubbing into my hood liner. You'll see what I mean when you get it in.

If you want I could try to do a picture for you.

Thanks for the tip. I think I'll use the .110 like you did and see if I can get one of the local heating companies that does sheetmetal work to put it in their break.

John
