I poked around on a website a week ago or so but found more information on a weight lifting event than the air filter box ??? I've actually never even seen a scotty system - but they are getting such good reviews by those who have them, I'm highly interested. I will be doing something with the intake - so I'd like to check out your stuff.
I told you we needed to do something about the dieselpowerplus site.

Anyway, the official site for the Scotty systems is www.scottyairsystems.com . You won't see anything about the Ram Air III on there until sometime this weekend though. I'll be generating install instructions this weekend, and getting both the Scotty site and the Wildcat site updated with install info and prices.

Rod

Here is the template pattern for the heat shield
Is this template full size and which way do you bend "A2" up or down and how do you put this together. It could be very useful. Thanks, John

Re:BHAF or Scotty II?

You must draw 100% of your air from outside of the Engine for maxium EGT reduction. ANY Heated air you draw in your turbo Multiplys that by 200% to 400%.

I saw under hood temps During Hard pulls go up over 70+ Degress f. You can do the math.
This was at 70 to 75mph.

The Cummins engineers have stated that for every deg's F of change in the intake charge it effects your EGT's by 1.4 deg's F.

Not to mention robbing you of some HP!!

Does this mean that any modifications done to the air box like removing the snorkel will result in higher EGT's?

As you pointed out in a previous post there are a whole schwack of variables to consider. But pulling underhood air just hamstrings you that much more. You reduce restriction with one hand, which should reduce EGTs, but then you stuff hotter air at the turbo, which raises EGTs.

BTW, pulling the fender inlet snorkle never worked for me on my 01. EGTs didn't budge.

Rod
