I had the BHAF on mine for over 30k miles and while it is gray, it's still working just like day one. And this is after being exposed to a bunch of water, dirt roads, etc. I just recently went to a Scotty 2 and man that thing is awesome. You can really hear the turbo on now.

Then thread them onto the studs, just like the stock airbox.
That's what I did, now the heatshield is pretty sturdily mounted to the fender.
( <--- as always, pics in album)

I like my BHAF, need to build a heat shield. Got the template just not the time. It decreased EGTS and increased turbo whistle . Well worth the time, which is about 5-30mins (i had to make an adapterfor mine)

ok, i got a BHAF at Cummins yesterday (rather large!!)..it just hooks into the factory tubing as described above and hangs there?? do i remove all the factiry airbox stuff and the fender snorkel or do you mount the filter somehow?? pics would be great, want to do this right...as always, thanks for the help ( and draining my wallet even more )

I have pics in my gallery as well.
I didn't cut anything firewall or fender wise.
Pulled everything related to the stock airbox and tossed it on a shelf in the garage.
Except for the little rubber mushroom mounts that I installed in the heatshield.

You can do that, but the area of the filter media is nowhere near the surface area of the BHAF. The BHAF also holds quite a bit more dirt before needing replacement. If you search BHAF by posts started by me, you will find all the specs. I got them off the phone right from Fleetguard.
