Question BHAF and Prefilter?

Ok, I think I'm going to get the NAPA BHAF for $33.74 but do I need the prefilter or is this enough? The only thing is the prefilter alone is like $30 so I figured I didn't really need it. My question is will I be alright with just the BHAF or do I need the prefilter as well? Thanks

The prefilter is washable so once you buy it you dont have to buy another one again....you simply wash it and put it over your new filter...

You should be fine with just the BHAF....but the prefilter should help the BHAF last much longer....thats about it

Myself and others have bought the Outerwears pre-filter, and because it is waterproof it will extend the life of the filter. I would be a little worried about a paper filter disintegrating and plugging up something. Just my .02.

Cumminsdude:

Get ready for some turbo music! I like mine! BTW - I am not running a pre-filter on my BHAF and have noticed no problems, yet....

Also, anyone know what the "stock" application of the BHAF is?

Just curious!

Next time you see a Big Rig (Semi) look on the side of the cab, just in front of the door.

That big chrome can is the air intake, and the BHAF goes in there.

Might even be bigger than the BHAF we use.

More than likely is used in generator applications.

I know the marine version is used in boats, hence the name.

The guy at NAPA asked me if I had like a big piece of equipment so I'm assuming that could be another use. I told him yeah just because I didn't feel like explaining to him what i'm going to do! Has anyone used the NAPA filter? Napa told me is a WIX but its like $20 less than if I were to buy a WIX. For $33 I think I'm going to order it tomorrow.

I've got the NAPA version of the BHAF. The salesperson looked at me funny when I told him I was putting it on my Dodge .
As said before, be ready for some seriously sweet turbo music. I originally had the K&N in the stock drilled box. The BHAF isn't any louder at high boost, but much more noticable at lower boost.

I put the NAPA filter on my truck 3 days after i got it. The napa guy looked at me weird to, must be a Dodge thing. Yes, without the silencer ring and having the BHAF you WILL hear a difference in the turbo! It's sweet!
