BHAF and the outerwear cover

This concerns the BHAF. Does it really get wet up there in the compartment where the BHAF sits. I fab'ed up the heat shield according to Marine's (I think it was Marine) template and it covers the entire bottom of where the factory air filter use to sit. Is the outerwear cover they sell for $29. and change really going to be necessary for weather protection or is it more useful as a prefilter for the BHAF? I didn't pay any attention last winter because I hadn't added the BHAF at that time. Shockingly, we've had the driest 4 months in recent history. When we did a couple of dribbles, I checked but it seemed dry. Any thoughts or opinions would be appreciated. Can't afford a Scotty II. I'm trying to get my gauge package and ROD POD put together. Running out of piggy banks to bust into.

~Dave

The ONLY time mine ever got wet was after I went through one of thos high pressure brushless car washes. Bone dry otherwise.

Re:BHAF and the outerwear cover

where do you get one of those covers? 30 bucks, but it is extra protection.

You have to phone them and they close early on Fridays plus figuring out the time shifts makes it fun. Now the quandry, gauges, outerwear, gauges, outerwear, rod pod, gauges, outerwear, oh the problems.

CH, your BHAF looks identical to mine which is a NAPA 2790 (or 2970, senior moment here.) Looks great.

Thanks for the responses. Muddymess gets alot more snow than I do, so if I stay out of brushless high pressure car washes, maybe I'll sneak by. Ok, I volunteer to go coverless this winter in the rains of Washington State. I'll let you know if it was a foolish decision.

~Dave
