BHAF with no heatshield?

BHAF with no heatshield?
Since I'm going to change the air filter anyhow, decided to get the BHAF. Can I use it without the heatshield? I will make one, just don't know when I'll have time.

i dont have a heat shield.. never had.. i can make an adapter for about 6 dollars. if you would like one private message me. then all uyou would ned is the filter!

I have Fleetguard BHAF and no adapter was needed on my truck. and no heatsheild either. I haven't noticed any problems with it like that yet.

EGT's will be better w/ a heatshield, but it won't be a "problem" by any means... I ran my 97 w/ an open BHAF and then an open AFE forever
