BHAF marine?
First, I must appologize. My computer came over on the ark.
I've tried doing searches, but to no avail.
I'm looking for the part number for the BHAF, marine version.
Secondly, has someone had trouble with the plain BHAF? Is the extra expense for the marine really worthwhile?

I've heard of very few.
I wanted a marine, but they were out of it, and had only one regular BHAF in stock so I took it.
As long as you don't sink the truck up to the mirrors, not much water gets under there.
Even the marine one won't handle submersion, nor the engine.
Get a water resistant prefilter, such as the outerwears, and you should be fine with the regular one.
I think the marine one flows a little better than the standard, but not sure it is worth the extra $100 for it.
www.outerwearsracing.com is where I got mine, right from the source.

just use a regular BHAF, the marine version is like $90 Canadian....I believe the problem was the filter seperating due to wet filter media. Use the regular BHAF with an internal support and prefilter like Phox has. Or better yet, get an AFE intake or Scotty 2 with the reusable/washable element.

The paper element in two BHAF's I used started to split. I went to a marine BHAF. Main difference is 1. The wire mesh on the inner surface for added element strength, particularly when wet, 2. better adhesion between element and filter body, and 3. different element composition that flows more air and can be soaked and dried without effect.
It's a better, safer filter. But honestly, the AFE Progaurd 7 with a prefilter is about the same price, flows better, is structurally stonger, and can get wet.

I had the original BHAF and I sucked more crap through you could imagine and I never once had a problem with it in 30K miles. It flowed just the same when I took it off as I did when I put it on. Only reason I took it off was because I acquired a Scotty 2 intake. Now that thing rocks. I didn't have an outerwear on it either.

I meant to say that the problem with the regular BHAF was the filter media seperating on the inside where there is no mesh screen or any type of support. You can use some type of internal support like PVC pipe or something similar. The marine BHAF is really good - but for that money you may as well get an AFE or Scotty 2.....then you can reuse the filter instead of throwing it out.
