With a hood liner, my shield just scratches the material, so I guess it is a pretty close fit.

 

Mine's about the thickness of Diamondplate aluminum.

Whatever that is.

I just make a heat shield last night. I used an aluminum stock pot that came with my Turkey frier. My 10 year old rendered it useless for it's intended purpose by shooting it with an arrow, the template in the tech facts section just fit. It is 1/8" or so thick, worked great.
