Welcome to DTR bizkit.

Im unsure where one can be purchased. Many members here build their own using THIS as a template.

No, you do not need a heat shield prior to the BHAF. It does reduce how much heat the BHAF draws off the turbo, but the heat shield is not required.

First, Welcome to the DTR. There is a template in tech facts for the heatshield you can printout and make your own. You don't have to have the heatshield on before installing the BHAF. Call Outerwares and order a water resistant cover for it as well, it will lengthen the life of the BHAF. Here is a pic of mine. I hope this helps. Tye

Thank you gentleman, I actually ordered the outerwear before posting. I race cars, so as ignorant as I am on this diesel stuff, I do realize the importance of those!!

Sorry for posting in the wrong area Rich.

I would feel out my sig, on the mods, but bought my truck used 94 12v with 90k on her. And I know its straight pipe'd, but I'm trying to learn on here as to what to look for on mods. I do know my truck defuels at or around 2300 and I think I need governor springs (TST) to solve that, is that right? Getting 23 mpg so I don't want to do much. Thanks again

This just in, Outerwears must be tiring of the phone calls and has a prefilter just for the BHAF's.
Do a search on BHAF and it points right to it.
They even call it a BHAF
They list it for the Fleetguard, Baldwin, NAPA and Wix versions.
