Have you considered Snow's Kit?

300* Egt reduction...read here... https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...threadid=52214

HTB2 will give comparable EGT's to the HX-40 from what I've heard...which is a step backwards for you, IMO

I have the same problem and your hotter than am I.

I'm running hot while towing also and have been trying to decide what to do.

RJ - Do you think the advance timing from the edge help in lowering egts?

So are twins the next step?

Or you could just slow down, grab a lower gear and bring up the rpms.

You might try getting rid of the BHAF and going with an AFE Megacannon intake.
That should help just a bit with EGT's.

Don't know how the HTB2 compares to a B1-2, but it is far better than a PDR HX40 in spoolup, boost and EGTs on my ETH w/DD3s and Comp box. No EGT issues here at 4200 ft. and higher.

A Scotty 2 might help some. That, or twins.

From a cost standpoint, the Snow injection system has been the most significant improver of EGTs of ANY other modification I've personally seen. NO air filter system comes even close in performance and everything else costs lots more.

Water injection worked well for me... But the twins are where it's at.

But, ETH + stock head gasket w/o orings or fire rings = TROUBLE with CH2O injection.

I know the only thing you can run into grabbing a gear and bringing the R's up is coolant temp problems

Gandrews

All reports from others say the EZ helps with the EGT's. I foolishly added injectors and the Stacked EZ at the same time...so I can't say for sure.

I only need 200-300* lower and just for short bursts. Hauling heavy in long hills (I don't tow) I'm fine at anything less than full throttle.

I expect the water/meth injection will be perfect for me. Have read that when towing, in the mountains, there is a problem with not enough water/meth storage to made long trips. This can be solved with the 8 gal tank in the bed...but it's not for me.

If interested, here is excellent thread on towing heavy and at alttitude with the Snow's injection Kit...http://www.turbodieselregister.com/f...t=water%2Fmeth

I've decided against the expense of twins. I'm so close to where I want to be now! Am also sure small twins (with 50 psi boost) are the perfect solution for heavy towing...if head gaskets hold.
