I was just curious what is the best way to dyno a automatic and manual for best HP numbers?

I learned on saturday that fourth gear may not give enough time to load the dyno, still saw 370 hp 853 tq and only reached 32 psi, next time 5th gear for me, but being I have only run one dyno there may be more tips, I thought that is was as simple as mash the pedal..... I couldn't have been more wrong, there is skill to getting out proper numbers from both the driver and the dyno guy.

mine does better in 5th, but i hear once you get over 500hp or so 1to1 is better.

I know from what I read it is pretty tricky. Just tryin to get it figured out to save me trial and error. I guess with the autos get it in 3rd draw down the rpm and hit it just enough so it doesent kick down?
