It depends on how you use your truck?

Towing, playing, just driving etc?

Being a manual trans, I would lean toward a 64mm charger, you'll be able drive around the lag alot easier than an auto truck. I've had good luck with my HTT and know of a few people personally that are really happy with their Industrial Injection turbos.

Yea the BD Special is a 64/71 and the I.I. sps can be a 62 or 66/71.
I have alot of frends here that love I.I. turbos but BD seem to be well liked on this site from what Ive seen over the years.

I love my HTT, a 62 or 64 would suit your needs well.

My super b special has been fine with my set up. I know guys with manuals running it also and they have no complaints at all.

If anything, that BD turbo would be the Super B, which is quite a bit smaller than a 62mm. Not really in the same class.

I have had my 62/71 for 2.5 years on both of my trucks, been an awesome turbo. I'm trading it for a 64/71 to see how it runs in comparison. For a daily driver, I would definitely reccomend a 62.

I run mach 4's and a HTT 62/71/14. Dynoed on 10-3 and it made 551 hp on a dyno jet. When you turn the box down, it is still decent work truck. On the really hot humid days towing heavy its a little lazy between shifts but manageable.

I like my little 62-65-.70 Cat C300G/BW
Because I have to lift on every shift, the turbo has to re-spool and the rascal does spool quick.

You said you can get a BD for $800, and a PS for $1600. I said that the BD turbo is likely a Super B, which is a 57/65. The PS would be a 62/65 or 62/71. Quite a bit larger, not really in the same class.
