I've got a totally stock 99 with guages, and I'm planning to tow the Wrangler out to Moab soon. I'll also have my pop-up truck camper onboard. Last fall I did this trip and detuned back to stock programming with the Smarty and wasn't really happy with either the performance or MPG. Would #2 or #3 be a better choice? Or should I do something in the middle with the REVO?

I'll confess I'm not completely comfortable in my understanding of fuel, boost, and timing and what parameter should be adjusted here.

Try both settings and see what you're happy with. There's nothing that says you can't take the Smarty with you and reflash during the trip.

 

Mine is permanently set to #3 and I tow upwards of 10,000 lbs plus.

If you have gages, you for the most part drive by the pyro when towing anyways so experiment and see what works best for you.

I have found what works best for this truck might not be right for the next, so how you set your truck up factors on how you use it.
