I've tried the sorry excuse for a shock that is mounted by DC, (from brand new up to various stages from "break in" to "broken down") some cheap no names (actually the stockers ain't that bad) and Bilstein 2549 and 2550 HD's
So far the Bilsteins are the best.

I have a set of RANCHO RS5000 on my 2500, great price about 40 50 bucks each, a see a good improvement over stock but yes the Bilstein seems to be the best choice for many people. price higher..

Just last weekend I replaced the Rancho RS5000's that were on my truck with Bilstein 5100's. AND MAN-O-MAN!!!!! What a difference! I got mine from 4Wheel Parts at the same price as Shockwarehouse. Well worth the extra 30 bucks compared to Rancho's RS5000. I fell the Bilstein 5100 WAY out rides the Rancho's. Much smoother ride driving over the concrete freeways.
