I also have a 3850 plate load SBC Dual Disk in my truck (like "PourinDiesel") I have to agree that it is less streetable than a single disk, but with just a little bit more pedal pressure and slightly longer shifts I would hardly call it a PITA. I had a SBC 13" FE in my previous 97 and I would rather have my DD ANY day!

Oh yeah I've driven an SBC "IRON GIANT" (4200 plate load) and initially its the same effort engaging and disengaging....its when you have to HOLD that pedal in all the way your leg starts to buckle!

IMPO if your only going to pull a few times a year and drive it everyday I would recommend either Haisley Machines Street Puller or a SBC DD configurated by Peter after you talk to him(several plate loads and amount of pucks to choose from). The best thing you can do is call Haisley Machine and SBC and tell them what you want to do and then you will probably be able to make the best decision from there.

The 3850 being 'driveable' depends on your level of tolerance. I daily drive mine but when it's stop&go traffic, I tend to complain a lot. I didn't feel any pedal effort change from the 3400 to the 3850 after the 3400 died a tragic death.

I wonder if McLeod or another manufacturer would make us an aluminum flywheel and lightened clutch assembly for drag racing (reasonably priced, of course). Would aluminum with a steel insert handle the heat of building boost?

Sorry, I should of clarified. All I plan on doing is running in maybe one or two pulls, and I dont plan on upgrading very heavily in the future either, proably just an edge ez. I went to Southbend, and they have so many different types of cluthes, which one would you all recommend for what I plan on using it for?

If your going to just run an EZ, then you dont need a clutch for pulling.
