best material for bhaf heat shield?
yesterday I finally ditched my stock airbox with k&n replacement filter and installed BHAF(fleetgaurd ah19037) I have printed the template from tech facts for a heat shield(though some say it isnt necessary). If I make one what would be the best gauge of sheet metal or is there a better material that I should use.Let me know and send pics if available.I have to spend the afternoon with her family today(oh boy!)so I need a project this morning for some "my time" Thanks

I used aluminum diamond plate for mine, I like the look better than just sheetmetal. There was a thread awhile ago about someone using a stainless stew pot, and if I had the patience that they had I might've copied em lol, looked good Try a search on it and I'm sure you'll find tons of ideas.

Some .060 or so aluminium will be the easiest to work with. The problem with any metal is heat transfer. It may not pull the air from the engine compartment but it will still get warm. When I gat a chance to build mine I am going to hack up a windshield shade and lay it in as insulation. The bubble wrap kind no the cardboard.
