Anyone else have any ideas?? I don't know alot about intercoolers but everyone i have talked to said the stock one won't flow or cool enough air for high hp motors, so anybody want to chime in on whether an upgraded intcooler is worth it?? thanks

its not the flow, its the cooling. banks always advertises theirs to increase flow. its the cooler air that makes a difference. 30 pounds of boost is 30 pounds of boost, no matter how fast you get it from one point to another. but if you can make a 75* cooler air charge get to the engines intake. then your up on the competition

This subject has been talked about many times. The consencus is that if you are 700hp+ then you need an aftermarket. The stock one does just fine. There have been pressure drop tests done, aftermarket vs. stock and the stock one believe it or not flows extremely well.
You need the aftermarket one, because our stock aluminum intercoolers can only handle around 65-70psi before they pop.
As far as EGTs, you will only lose around 150*. This has been tested quite a few times.
I personally will go with a Spearco. BUT, that will be one of the last things I will do to the truck.

Do some searching, the info. is out there.

Just backing this quote. I know BD's products very well and the fin area on their coolers is huge. The stock intercooler is good but if you're getting 60psi then I highly recommend BD. They sell for just under $1400. hope this helps.

If your going to spend $1400. Go with a Spearco. They have the best intercoolers out.

I know Joe Hellman of Hellman performance (hellmanperformance.com) makes one heck of an intercooler. He made the on on his race truck along with the on on (yeah I know its a Ford but still) Snow White of DI Performance. He makes a bunch of them and everyone always seems to be very happy with them. He also makes an air horn that compliments the system really well. I also think that his price on his intercoolers is a little bit lower than any of the before mentioned ones. Just another one to check out

Is this going in a 1st gen?
I'm pretty sure Joe Hellmann just finished one for a non-intercooled 1st gen.
All others out there are for 2nd and 3rd gens.
