Arrow Best fuel injectors for mileage gains!!!

I am the ultimate cheap skate when it comes to fuel economy.

Example: At 55 MPH, it is more cost effective to use the ac, due to excessive drag due to windows rolled down.

I talked to an engineer at CAT yesterday, he told me they are working on a design to spiral cut the inner fuel transfer portions of new technology fuel injectors. Why?? Because rougher orfices create more turbulance which equates to better fuel atomization. Atomization equates to a better fuel/oxygen mixture, which ultimately equates to more power and efficiency.

The ultimate injector for higher fuel economy is not an extrude honed injector with mirror-like transfer portions and perfectly smooth injector holes.

EDM'd injectors have more imperfections which cause greater turbulance, and better atomization.

The next key to better economy is perfect flow matching. It is a well known fact that edge jammer nozzles, while claiming to be 1% flow matched, vary greatly... 50% or more in some sets.

My stock injectors with 200k + have a mirror like finish due to copious amounts of 10 micron clean fuel. I just installed a brand new set of RV 275's, and I got a 10% increase in fuel mileage. My old ones pop tested ok too, they just simply had less turbulance.

So all you guys out there pushing extrude honed injectors... They do flow more fuel, but have less turbulance and less economy.

IMO.. Flow matched, edm'ed injectors, give the best economy and so far, RV's have given me the best results.

Do you think the RV275's will be ok to run with my stock tranny and current mods? I've got a #10 plate and 3kgsk. Are the RV275's also known as 60hp injector?

RV275's are for 24v engines only, i dunno what a similar 12v injector would be.

if this is true, could you cut grooves into current injector faces?

I don't think most home mechanics have the pecision tooling necessary to cut grooves into injectors. But, i'm sure Bosch and Cat do... it's just a matter of time before 24mpg is normal in a diesel full size.

I got a all time best of 21 with jammer stage 1's (50hp) and smarty on SW#1.

Those are some pretty good numbers diesel fan. Look at my sig, with 4x4 axles, I could coax 21 pretty easy. A good matched set of edge nozzles are great for mileage gains, they are not extrude honed. I hope someone will chime in with mileage on DDP injectors, or Mach's. Extrude honed injectors do flow more fuel but do not have turbulance to help atomization and give optimal fuel economy. RV's are better than stock cause they have imperfections, and better fuel angle.

I have a standard, but with 373 gears, I get the best mileage at 60MPH, and at 70, I can still get around 18 with these buck shot mudders 34.9" tall. You can see in my sig, my best of 24mpg. This week I will install my new RV's and then report some numbers.

I think the speed is hurting your mileage. Running my usual 120-130km/h on the highway, I'm in the 17-18mpg range. When I was following a semi in a snow storm, I was running 80-90 km/h, and got over 21. That was whats in my sig, running the Smarty on 7.
