bd twins vs. hx35/ht3b

i searched and didnt really see what i was looking for.

i want this thread to directly compare proven bd's twins and the proven hx35/ht3b setup. spoolup, highest hp support, egt's while towing or playing, etc. so those that use these setups or know alot about them, what are your opinions? also price - a build your own kit with the manifold vs. bd's drop-in and go. current best price for bd's are $2900. with all the "towing twins" threads lately, it always seems to come down to the bd's or the 35/ht3b. but there is no comparison between the two. this is what it has come down to for me and i know for a lot of us out there. anything that pertains to the two setups such as fueling also belongs here. im pretty sure it will be like comparing the two top trans companies on here (we all know who ). i havnt driven any trucks with either, and from what i can see both setups are equally the way to go. but only one can be run...so what are the differences that may help many of us select the setup that best matches each truck and its specific needs?

thanks,

jeremy

back in the day, i was going to go with the bd's. Just for the sheer fact that you cant build a set for what you can buy the bd's for. Thats not even including the time

now, that being said, im going with a sps 62 and a s400/b2. Im going for about 750 hp and bd's just wont cool that

Isnt BD gonna introduce a set with a s400 on bottom soon? They claim 1000 hp cooling.I find that hard to believe.I would think you would need something bigger than even an s400 for that

I have hearing that for a while, but who knows when they are coming out. I agree that they are going to need A LOT more air to cool 1000 hp

I think you are where many were a few yrs ago, comparing Edge's Comp with the TST PM3.... and where many are now choosing a tranny rebuilder.

The problem is, no one I know has personal expirience with both! All you can do is read ALL the twin threads and interpolate the differences from the ocassional facts mixed in with lots of opinions.

That's what I did when choosing a tranny! After a while a trend seems to develop and you will have your answers. Took me three months of reading and was well worth it... learned lots of other 'stuff' in the process

Many said BD's 'small' twins (S300 primary turbo) were only good for 500 hp max, but they are cooling well up to 650 hp!
They have an engineer up there who really knows his stuff and they are the first, I believe, to do a computer generated design for twins on small diesels. They proved, to me anyway, that matching components and balancing the system is much more important than size of the turbos.

I'm not a big fan of several BD products....but, IMO, their twin turbo setup is truly amazing!
