bd short throw shifter
What would I have to do to my 97 NV4500 trans to get as BD short throw shift kit to work on it? They used the same trans. In 98 didn’t they? So what the difference?

Ya I've also heard before that the top plates are different on the 98's and up. You would need to find a top plate from a newer transmission in order to get it to work with your 97

i dunno if it will work or not but i will tell you this...be careful, if you slam race it at all or like to shift fast playing on the street, i broke my first short shift and had to pay for another one

The 98-up top covers are very different...to get a short shift to work on a NV4500 you have to drop the tranny, and change the top plates. Did it to the 95 back when I still had the NV4500
The Short shift was OK, but really sucked with the DD clutch. I'd try and find someone who has on to drive and see if you like it first, they can be tricky![Wink](https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/forums/images/smilies/wink.gif)
