has anyone here that runs the BD short throw on either the nv4500, or the nv5600 ever break the shift mechanism/lever where the shifter threads on??

i jsut got off the phone with BD and the guy said he has never heard of one breaking off at the threads before or breaking at all. i thought the welded fix on it would be sufficient but last night it snapped off again and i drove her home in 3rd again. the guy did say he could sell me just the part i need for $125 instead of buying a whole new short throw kit for $260

I had mine break about 3 threads up the shaft.

Well that's what ya'll get for slammin gears so hard!!!! I've never heard of one of those breaking, that really sucks!!!

the first time it broke i think is because i kept tightening it when it would come loose and i stretched the metal...then snapped it off. this time...after welding it, i slammed it REALLY hard into second gear from first doing a lil bit of drag racing and the weld broke.

ill weld it again tonight for a temp. fix...and ill be waiting for the new piece to come in from BD to replace the part i broke.

Had mine for about 6months now and haven't had a problem with it and have been bumper deep in mud thrashing it hard. But I might pull my boot and check to see if there is any stress marks or anything funny looking.

I saw a guy at the track one night snap his stock shifter off at the base in 5th gear.
