Re:BD Race anti-defueler
Actually I talked to BD about this product. I specifically asked them why I should consider their product verses me just upgrading my Comp box to a drag comp. I didn't really get an answer to that question, they told me candidly that it is for high HP trucks, like 450hp and up.

Re:BD Race anti-defueler
Stakeman, that seems to ring a bell. Buddy of mine from the NW BOMBERS, Rip Rook of www.sourceautomotive.biz has been having a problem at the line. Boost pressure jumping from 10 to 20psi while power braking. Depends on what it is when he launches as to how well he is gonna do on that run. He has tried most everything. We are thinking it has to be electrical in that running DonM Mach 4's the computer is saying to him while at 20psi, whoa we ain't going anywhere just yet so I may as well defuel. Just a theory. BTW, Rip's best time so far is a 13.37 and that ain't shabby!

Switch has 3 positions. stock/race/full race. race eliminates the speed limiter and full race eliminates the de-fueling during launch too. In this mode you loose the tack operation on the truck.

I hope to be evaluating one very soon. It's at the shop now.

We have two trucks coming in today for this module. Both suffer from this condition.

I will be doing a product evaluation for the TDR for a coming issue, but I will let you know if it works. 8)

Later,

Re:BD Race anti-defueler
wheres Mark Kendrick, I think he was the one that knows something about cutting a wire and putting a toggle switch in it's place, I don't remember if that was a speed limiter or rev limiter or if it was the fuel limiter, I need to talk to him though I was going to do it the other day and forgot which wire. Don't know if that helps any but it might.
Heath

Re:BD Race anti-defueler
The RAD works by eliminating the torque management operation that is normal present in the Cummins ECM. Torque management effects acceleration of the vehicle in primarily 1st and 2nd gear. The most common symptom of this is a large or drastic hesitation while staging or leaving the line while drag racing. It will help with the speed limiter function but its primary purpose is to eliminate the engine surge in 1st and 2nd gear. Typically 4.10 gear ratios exhibit this problem more than 3:54.
Re:BD Race anti-defueler
The first one was installed. Works as advertised. Other than a check engine light in race mode, and not tach in Full race mode, that appears to be the only side effect.

It is not designed to improve power, and it didn't.

Full Race mode eliminated the de-fueling when attempting to launch.

There will be more for sure, but so far it looks to be as advertised...

Re:BD Race anti-defueler
Yes. I'm sure it is interupting signal(s) to the ECM which would cause it. This only happens in race mode. It goes away with a few key cycles when back in stock mode.

IMO, this box is for trucks that race. The de-fueling of the 01's and 02's severely limits 1st and 2nd gears ability to apply full power. This eliminates that. I also saw 132 mph on the dyno 118 limted stock.

Speak up Doug ;D

Last year here at Atlanta, I watched Doug (JetPilot) run a 12.10 at 118mph. And he did it with SEVERE de-fueling in 1st and second. Third he'd haul a$$ into 4th then at about the 1000ft... SLAMED right into the speed limiter.

It really hurts the 60' times with 4:10's.
