To me, the most important thing is to get something with a sealed top (like a Delco), so it's not barfing out acid everywhere, corroding your connections and rotting your truck. The Mopar replacement batteries are horrible for this, and I wouldn't have one.

I'm about to drop a pair of Interstates in mine. My Dad's a dealer though
As I recall, the CCA and CA are rated as high or igher than the Optimas-but I'll check and let you know. -Josh

You know when I replaced mine they were still starting the truck without a problem. The bad side was they were puking so much acid all over my fenderwells, it ate the paint right off!! I didn't want to deal with this problem anymore, so I got rid of them.

I have red tops on both my trucks, my John Deere 314 mower, and a boat. never had a prob with any. I know its a little over kill for a mower but I had a few extra, know a guy in the U.S.A.F. that gave me some. He said they cant leave anything runing when they get out so the constant start&kill start&kill runs them down and they put new batterys on the first time it wont start (not alowed to jump start or recharge them) so he gets the throwaways, charge over night and you have a new battery. Our tax dollers at work.

In my truck Im still running the stockers and luckily they havent been leaking yet. I think I might just replace 'em for peace of mind with red top Optimas soon. I do run red tops in two of my other vehicles and love the extra power and sealed design. Plus they're a little smaller than the stockers on those vehicles. I might go with yellow tops, but havent decided yet.

When I got my '01 it too still had the originals, 265,000kms and worked fine at warmer temps. Pretty darn good for a stock battery I'd say! However the first time it dropped below -20C the truck failed to start(wasn't plugged in) and I had to drive the Jeep to work. So out they came out.

Well I went down to Costco last night to price batteries.
They have "Kirkland" brand batteries for $57 each 700 CCA and 875 CA. They have a 3 year warranty on them.
They have the Optimas there too, both Red & Yellow tops, the red tops are $164 and the yellows are more ($200 range).
I'll be going w/ the Kirkland ones, I'm poor

I just replaced my original stock battery this week. They were not puking acid but they were not starting the truck to well. Was gonna get some interstates but I ended up getting mopar batteries instead. I ended up getting them for $69.00 ea from the dealer. Their normal price was $80 ea. I've been happy with my stock batteries in the past.

mine is running stock replacements right now , delco's. But it is getting some NAPA group 31 truck batteries soon. My Fathers truck has group 31's in it , and it has been started as low as -37 without being plugged in, but it took all the batteries had to do it.

I work at a transit bus OEM. We install normally Delco, Interstate, & Trojan batteries except for special requests. The worst are East Penn (DEKA) AGM.
