I run an Optima in my Jeep as do many of my off roading buddies. Lie expactancy has not been an issue.

On my truck I cut one edge off of the battery tray and upsized the batteries to Grp31s.

I have the Optima D31A yellow tops. They are a little over a year old. During the recent cold snap some of my buddies trucks didn't start and mine fired right up!! I like them, there is one in my wife's Lancer and I had one in the Jeep.

I am curious...What is the advantage to GRP31's? I have seen them for sale in the farm stores, but all I really have determined from the local batteries is they are very heavy! Am I missing something, or am I seeing the wrong GRP31's??

My truck has Napa batteries, Exide, I hate them stupid things leak all over the place. When I worked in the store a lot of the shops wouldn't carry them because 90% went bad.

Red Tops for four years now, not one problem.

Now having said that my truck more than likely will not start in the morning.

I did the same thing as Clay. More amps, more reserve, they were cheaper than the ones that my truck was supposed to have, and they were in stock. Lots of good reasons to go to them, I thought.
