Basic Upgrades
I am looking for some basic upgrades for my CTD. Nothing to fancy (yet) or expensive, just to get a little hp and mileage. I usually do not pull a load but working at my stockyard I do haul some cattle around three or four times a month.

Start with either a BHAF or a Scotty II air filter, and either straight pipe it or go with 4" exhaust. And get gauges, EGT, fuel pressure and boost. If it is an auto, get a tranny temp gauge as well. That will get you started down the slippery slope to BOMBing!! Good luck, once it starts it never goes away, even if you switch trucks down the road!

Going to a bigger injector usually helps both power and mileage. Something like the 275 injectors or something less than 100 HP increase. And then a box like the E-Z from Edge is nice too. And as mentioned, Gauges!! EGT, fuel pressure.

Thanks for all the help. I have looked at the Scotty II but just installed a K&N so will it do for now? I know its not as good as Scotty but its brand new $$$. It is an automatic so how difficult should all the gauges be to install? I consider myself an average mechanic. Next, who seems to make the best injectors? Pretty easy install??Thanks again......
