Banks Twin Ram Intake Alternatives?

Well I guess my real question is...Does the twin ram intake make much of a difference for anyone who has it. And if it does, is there any other company that makes a cheaper alternative to this set up. Spending 600$ on something like that seems a bit extreme if you ask me. But that is banks.

Doing a simple search of these forums presents with the following ~ https://www.dieseltruckresource.com/...archid=1585686

NOTE ~ You'll find there are a lot of folks bashing the product based on NO first-hand knowledge or what "A Friend said". Pretty-much useless info.

They are overpriced for what it is. However, it is well made and does offer improved EGT control. It in itself, makes no power. . . . . . It's a y shaped piece of pipe folks.

I run one and find it well worth while in my application.

I know you have one and like it and I don't want to start a argument but can you please tell me how it can help control EGTs? The stock CAC on my truck has much smaller and more restrictive inlet and outlet openings than the air-horn looks to have? I could see in 600+ hp engines with the rest of the charge air system upgraded the stock horn starting to impede the flow but with the rest of the stock system I don't understand it to help?
Can you clue me in?

I have one, and must say it looks good on there. But looking at ur sig, spend the 600 somewhere else like saving for a bigger turbo. I think u can get a bigger turbo for 600 like the dodgezilla right? It's a nice looking unit, and prolly helps distribute the air better, but 600 would make u alot happier spent in another way than basically a cosmetic item when it comes to performence IMO.

I agree with this!

Why aren't there more home made setups. Its a relatively simple design on a 12v, and even easier on a 24v. Maybe I'm missing something in the complexity or functionality?

One member said it evened out his temps from front 3 to back 3 where there was a 150* difference before... Don't remember who though. Not even positive I read it on here.

I'm guessing that it is an issue with time to fab it up for a small gain.

How is it even easier on a 24v? Last time I looked at my 24v, there was about 6 fuel lines clamped in various places directly over the top of the intake manifold. This is why the banks twin air is only available for pre 98.5 trucks.

I am going to make my own out of either 3" or 3.5" mandrel bent pipe with no heaters in it either. Joe Hellmann makes something like this out of aluminum and sells it for like $465 I think, looks real good but $65 worth of pipe and some elbow grease will be much better on my wallet! lol.

Funny I was just thinking I'd like to get a twin ram. No way I'd pay $600 for it though. I believe it does help even out temps in all cylinders. Someone's gotta come out with a generic one for way cheaper.

I'll be building my own as soon as I can afford a TIG welder...It will be designed for looks, some performance, and easy of removal.

Spend your $600 dollars on other more important things first. If you really want one then do it last, as it does not make anymore power. And when we tested it we only saw ~40 degree difference across the egt's coming out of all 6 cylinders.

Yes I do have one too. Only bought it because it looks cool...well it looks cooler after I ground the Banks name off of it!

I have one and I really like it for the look and the extra/more even flow. I see 80+ psi so I think I actually gain by having it and besides its a great place to mount the 2nd water/meth nozzle.
