A lot of people complain that the Banks kits are too expensive but I've penciled it out, the cost is quite competitive and the quality excellent. I've seen folks buy just a plate then realize they need a turbo housing, on and on it goes till they have everything included in a Banks kit. Big advantage is the parts are engineered as one system, not a hodge podge of components from several sources.

Banks kits are designed so you don't get enough power to fry your auto tranny or clutch. If you plan on upgrading your tranny and desire more power you might want to go elsewhere.

I guess this is one time when Bill and I don't agree..

Bank$ is a little out there in $$$ for what you get..

I dunno, I spent just over $800USD on gauges, plate, spring kit, BHAF and CAT removal and have about 50% more power than the powerpack... And the last time I priced out exhaust kits, the SS setup from DPPI or MBPR was still cheaper than Bank$..

Its really what you feel comfortable with. You can get "Kits" from other vendors such as PIERS or Wildcat if you wanted to price compare.

I put the power pack on mine and it is working good.
I would like to dino mine some time to see what kind of power it is making.

went on vaction this summer drove 1800 mile filled up 4 times
got 21.4, 21.5, 22.4, and 20.9 miles to gallon empty.

went on 350 mile trip with car trailer empty go and loaded coming

If you are looking for around 300 RWHP like what Bank's powerpack claims, then you can do that for alot less then what you would spend on a powerpack. However, for someone new to CTD's, it is a nicely engineered package that will take the guess work out of selecting components. As far as a powerpack being easy on an auto, I disagree with Infidel, 300 RWHP will be in the 750 ft/lb range and this WILL quickly fry the lock up clutch and the stall speed will be too high to hold on to all that torque. The rest of the stock auto will be marginal at best to survive all that power.

just some more .02 for ya

Banks Powerpack: $2158 Engineered, EDIT! it's a hodge podge thrown in one box!
Banks does not even give you a full 4" exhaust in their 12valve kit, only a partial exhaust! And their gauges are the most out-dated, old-skool looking relics. And no, the twin ram is not needed.

Call up Piers Diesel or others that advertise around here.

If you want to keep it fun, but safe and a little conservative:
#6 plate (250hp) $200
Full 4" exhaust $400
AFE air filter $70
3 Autometer gauges $290
Gauge pillar mount pod $70
14cm exhaust housing $415

Total= $1445 for just this list of stuff, and you'll make the same rear-wheel horsepower level as a Powerpack. Same temps, same reliability etc.
If you really want to wake the truck up further, add $140 for a 3k rpm governer spring kit.

I have done lots of dyno testing and testing various products. I have yet to see a 300 rear-wheel hp Powerpack.

Banks used TST plates for '94, but has since used their own, they are different.

for 300 hp, a exhaust is not needed, just loose the kitty and put in a decent muffler. banks is just way over priced for what you get. they design there stuff around 65 year old 5th wheel trailer pullers. very safe power and way over priced. but they have to pay for all that marketing.

cut your plate, k&n filter, buy a 14cm housing from any cummins parts store for around $230 and knock out your cat. shim the fuel pressure regulator. if you want more, buy a set of nozzles for a cpl1975

Hey whats going on Banks hmm don't waste your money call me and I'll set you up 253 376 8002 I advertise on this site www.extremedieselperformance.net
I can set you up with
4"turbo to tailpipe aluminized steel for Edit
diprocol gauge set with a pillar mount for Edit
fuel plate by bd power for Edit
afe stage 1 intake for with 800+cfm conical filter for Edit
don't ever buy drop in k&n filters what a waste of money in a factory airbox you might go from 280cfm to 350cfm conical will take you over 800cfm I never have understood banks selling those cheap square filters with a performance kit??
14cm housing I would have to check on that
never the less so many people just buy their products because of banks being a common household name in the industry. Honestly though I got into this business as a enthusiasts and im going to keep it that way would like to help you out.

So that stuff there'll stick you up in the ~700 ft/lb range?

easily.

I had a #10 plate in a 180HP pump 3/4 forward $200 (TST) also ran a #5 plate too
4" exhaust $350 (summit)
16cm housing $150 (HTTurbo)
BHAF $50 (Napa)
Pyro and Boost gauge $220

dynod 735 ft/lbs and the stock disk lasted for a little while with that. with a little timing and some adjustments i got that setup to run strong and ran well.
