Re:Banks High Ram

I remember a thread on them a while back. Sounds like they are neat to look at but you can actually lose some horsepower. Personally, I'd spend the 300+ on something else.

Re:Banks High Ram

I have one and I'd have to agree. Nice to look at, but no HP increase.

Re:Banks High Ram

Actually I think that any possible gain on the intake side of the engine can be made on the intake manyfold and the head. Any more laminar flow on the high ram intake would be made turbulent again on the grid heaters. In the high boost situations we have on the RAM there should be possible gains from increasing the volume on the intake as close as possible to the head. And of course porting and polishing, but in this case taking care that the swirl pattern stays beneficial. For working on intake manyfolds on diesels we usually used a setup with a precisely calibrated pump-injectors combo and individual EGTs on each cylinder. The standard outcome of this work was (engine bay space permitting) a reservoir type intake manyfold with very short pipes into the head and some resonance breaking devices to avoid resonance caused imbalanced fill of the cylinders at certain speeds. Pressure drops across the intercooler have to be balanced against temperature efficiency to obtain the greatest possible fill of the cylinder in air mass.

AlpineRAM

I got one I'd like to get rid of actually. Never put it on MY truck, but did buy it from another member.

I sanded it down, and was going to paint it black, to match the rest of the truck, but never got a chance. It is ready to pain though.

Be glad to let it go for what I paid. PM me please.

Andrew

Moderators, Please let me know if this is ok, and please remove if not.
