Banks Exhaust...anyone?

Banks Exhaust...anyone?
I want to know if anyone has the Banks 4". I want to delete my "monster Muffler" and want to know if anyone has done so with out cutting and welding.?

i think cutting and welding is the only way to do it right. you can cut and put a piece of pipe in there and connect with the aluminum type clamps but won't be real strong.

I had the monster exhaust. I cut it out and welded a piece in it's place because none of the local shops had a pipe stretcher that would do 4"ID. You may check your local big truck supply stores and see if the have a 4"ID coupler that is long enough. Can't see why you wouldn't want to weld a piece in place though?

I think you'll be pleasantly surprised with what you'll find. I noticed a difference in the way the truck breathed the second I hit the key. It is going to drone on you a little at highway speeds but with the resonance of the 5'tip and where the exhaust exits it's really not that noticable inside the cab. Even if you aren't impressed it would only take you a couple of minutes more to cut the pipe back out and re-weld the muffler into place. Just make sure you make a nice clean cut the first time! I used a saws-all on mine as opposed to a torch or plasma cutter.

i used to have a banks go to a muffler shop get the length of the muffler, in what ever stainless or not like 20 bucks, pull the mufler put the new piece in. wam straight pipe done.
