Balljoints
Anyone know why a heavy duty truck doesn't come with GREASEABLE ball joints? IE My 3500? My truck needs balljoints and fortunately for me my dealer will replace under warranty but only with OEM so why is it that they don't come with greasable ones to prolong life and greasable ones are not available for either the top or bottom I can't remember in the aftermanket scene either.

Re:Balljoints
I agree, it IS pretty stupid to not supply greasable suspension parts, especially when they have shown relatively high failure/wear rates - the suspension on my GREASABLE '91 was rock solid when I sold it at 120,000 miles after buying the '02...
Some of us have used the hypodermic type attachments to pierce the rubber boots on the various joints, and fill them with grease - time will tell if it's as effective as the grease fittings would be, as they come from the assembly line, there seems to be hardly ANY lube inside the boots - at least filling them with a needle gets them decently filled. If you use this method, be VERY careful to NOT overfill the boots - they are a fully sealed boot, and too much pressure can rupture the boot and cause more problems than you started out with!
Some have actually drilled, tapped and installed fittings to the existing parts - but there's some concern about damage and contamination to internal parts due to metal particles getting into the joints in the process...
