What is the best material to use to make it and any advice on how to do it. I found the diagram in the tech articles about how to make them however it doesnt give me anything besides the template...or am i just stupid and did not find it.
Please derect me to were this has been covered before because i am sure that is the case if you please.
Thanks Rob

22 gauge aluminum or steel if you want one. Ive ran without one for 2 months, guys on here have ran without for years. I don't see a point as long as your not towing.

i made my own.. its actually really nice. i used thin stainless steel with flat black paint over it.. then on the edges i sliced fuel line and stuck it over the top and the back and where the air filter tube goes by it then i put gasket maker in between the tube and the heat shield itsleft so it looks more clean and un homeade haha.. i put a piece of plywood down to cover the three bolts that stick out of the finder that also gives a good surface for the heat shield to be screwed in to. i takes a lil time to make sure you get all the corners right and it doesn't rub on anything but i was really happy the way mine turned out.. hope this helps at least a little bit, just lettin ya know you dont need the template to make it.

I'd say 22 guage is on the thin side. I'd use either 16 or even 14 guage. I need to make mine sometime. My friend works at an HVAC shop, so it will be cake to cut and bend it on the equipment over there.
