Bad probe?

Anyone on here know how to test a type k pyro probe? Dont know if its the probe or gauge that has puked out. If the probe is hooked to gauge or unhooked from gauge I read between 50 and 60 deg.

Thanks Mooseman

You need a volt meter capable of reading 100mV. Remove the probe and hold a lighter to it. The voltage should rise as the flame heats the probe. You can find exact specs by searching type K thermocouples on google.

Way I test them is to wrap the probe with aluminum foil to a 150 watt light bulb.
First I use a lab 1000° thermometer to see what the temp really is under the foil, usually it's 800 - 1000°
Never ran into a bad probe, most times the problem is wiring, #2 is a bad gauge.
