Autometer Z Series

Looking at Autometer guages.....Any opinions? What is the lighting like on the Autometers?? Any pics?? Any suggestions on the best Autometer series??

Unfortunately, they do not make a fuel pressure guage that Id be happy with.

I just bought new cobalt series pyro and boost gauges and am very happy with them. I had VDO gauges before these and there is no comparison. The cobalt series light up great and are very easy to read. I couldnt be happier.

I bought mine from egauges, but only because I couldnt find them in the DTR store.

Great @ night, the lighting is just right, not to bright. I almost took a picture of them tonight on the drive home. If I knew, I would of for you Doc.

The lighting at night is pretty good on them. Not too bright to be distracting, but definitely easy enough to read. I've got the green bulb cover on the light, so it has a nice greenish tint that comes close to matching up with the gauge cluster.

I like the "ultra-lite" range, as you can see from my sig. It's down to your individual taste, their easy to see at night without being in your face. The fuel gauge seems to be ok at the moment, but it has only been connected for a year or so, time will tell. Got pics in my gallery, though they are not the best of pics

Doc
I love my AM ULs the only thing I dont like is the lack of a 80# boost gauge.
Hook them to your headlight switch so you can dim them if you want. I never found a need to dim them but it a nice option. As far as FP goes I got a 15# AM Sport Comp 2 5/8 oil filled Mechanical gauge mounted down beside the cup holder It dosent match the ULs but it dosent look too Getto IMHO
I have had this gauge for 15 years now (mounted on the cowel of 2 race gassers) and 2 years in my truck and its been awsome. If you want I can email you a few photos Give me a PM

My Z-series gauges have been fine. 60 psi Boost and a pyro. Doc, you're gonna hate the FP gauge I'll be adding soon. It's a 35 psi gauge that looks just like the Z-series (it's from AutoMeter's AMI line) and it says "Water Pressure".

The one thing i noticed when i was looking for gages is that the z-series were not backlit. They are illuminated around the outer part of the dial.(The dial is not illuminated). This might not make a differance but i went ahead and got the isspro ev series that are backlit(more like the factory dash.)
