Autometer pyro street series probe to long

just to let you know I bought a Autometer Pyro that comes with the street series probe, when I installed it Pre turbo the probe length is to long and bottomed on the inside of the manifold.
there is no compression sleeve on these so you cant set the depth, it has a ring around the top that acts as the seal/depth.
it works fine for post turbo use. this might have been because of where I decided to place it 2" from flange 5/8 off form center per instructions. FYI Issopro has a pre turbo probe thats short and will work found it in the Geno's Catalog. just thought I would give a heads up so check the length and depth of the manifold to make sure this dosent happen. no big deal I put a pipe plug in it and moved the probe to the Elbow.
Regards,
Mike

Ahhh, so maybe my screw up was to my benifit. I installed mine last night and inadvertantly drilled a 7/16 hole, which is for 1/4 pipe, instead of 5/16 for 1/8 pipe. I had to use a reduction bushing and my probe seems to fit.

Good info, though.

Steve.

Steve's screw up is what I was going to suggest as an alternative to a new thermocouple. When some folks have screwed up with a 1/4'' port I've seen them go to 3/8'' with a bushing, this would work too.

Take the probe to a hardware store and get a compression sleeve and nut for it. Then you can set the depth you want. Just secure the original nut so it won't chafe the wiring.
