Aurora 2000 thoughts PDR 40

Can an Aurora 2000 really support 450 to 550 HP? I don't know what to think of this listing. What do you all think?

How about one of those on sale HX 40's? Do you think it would support more power? For 850 bucks, Piers has a smokin deal right now.

Where is my money best spent? Can anyone find me a turbo that will support 450-500 HP, for 1000 bucks?

Super b for a grand. Looks about the same as the a3k as far as I can tell except it has a wastegate. ATS has a lot of detailed specs on their webpage.

You've been around here long enough to hear about hx40's breaking, but that is the next size up- HTT lists 60 mm inducer on their hx40 compressor.

A lot of the HX-40 breakage is a thing of the past. Some of the first Super 40s were sent out from the factory for the upgraded wheels and the outfit responsible for the work thought it would be better for oiling purposes to grind a small groove midway down the shaft... not only did this weaken it, but the shaft was never rebalanced. That is a thing of the past, the last couple of years have been just fine and don't have the grooves or an unbalanced shaft. Just an FYI... I hate to see a pretty nice turbo get such a bad reputation...

I was running the super 40 with the mods in my signature, and didn't like it. It was laggy and wouldn't keep egts in check towing. I hung on to it after I built the twins in case I was going to upgrade my twins later, but have since decided when I go bigger i will replace the hx35 with an s300 variant. I might sell this super 40 don't know yet. Lots of guys had good luck running the hx 40 but I wasn't one of them.

After reading the Aurora 2000 review/install in Diesel Power, I contacted ATS about getting one. They no longer offer the Aurora 2000 turbo, and instead steer you to their Aurora 3000 as their base turbo.

The 2000 is supposed to support up to 350 hp, the 3000 supports up to 450, according to ATS tech support.
