Cool Anything i can do to beef up tranny?

Is there anything that i can do, on a short time frame, (ie i can have the truck on jacks for days) to help beef up my tranny, and without killing myself in the process?
Sometimes wonder with the extra power about the length my trans will live, even though banks assures me that it will be fine.

Big tranny pan. I had a mag double deep (expensive).

Not exactly beefing it up but helping it stay cool.

The are cheaper alternatives but nothing as huge as the Mag hytec.

B&m sells one for $120 bucks that is 2 extra quarts. The MagHytec is like $250 but is 4 extra quarts.

EDIT: B&M claims 4 extra quarts...

Call DTT and ask them. I say to get their valvebody, built for your truck.
It's a start but if you are really making any power you must get a low stall converter to use the power.

Turn up the line pressure.....it'll make your TC clutch last longer. You could try a TransGo shift kit, but I've heard mixed results with them.

I have a stock pan and my temps are hotter sitting in bumper to bumper traffic than running. Mine usually runs 118-125* in lock up and ~160* running through the gears. I don't tow much, but I run about 20 miles of 2-4% grades daily, turning 37" tires.

It would be a good idea to put a trans temp gauge in though....

TC & Valve Body would be a good one day job for a competent shop.
(About 5 hours for TiminVa & Andy)
Possibly a weekend project for a shadetree.
And will REALLY wake up your truck.

TRUST ME!

Ive had great results with my Transgo shift kit i bought off ebay for $50. Really helped the tranny shift, and hold the power well. I also just installed a tranny temp gauge. $51 with everything at advance auto parts(autometer ultra-lite gauge). It was a good investment, and it looks cool. No problem to put in either. Of course a full blown VB will be better than the transgo but for $50 its hard to beat.

Not hard to put in, but sometimes hard to get right. I'll mess with the hard parts, but I leave the VB work to the pros.

Its very intimidating to put in. Not hard. Just intimidating, cause your drilling holes, and replacing valves, but it was worth it in my truck.

some shift kits are simple and some are quite complex with alot of VB mods...do a search on "increasing line pressure" and you'll get the instructions on here..

I had a shop install a BD torq loc in mine($400). REALLY helped. Also, I installed a loc-up switch to loc the conv. Helps a lot to cut down on heat.
Of course the shop told me the ultimate is a valve body and super HD conv. I'm thinkin BD makes both of these. Around $1100 for the conv and $500 fer the valve body I think.
GOOD LUCK!
