I am going to be putting a Goerend transmission in soon and im wondering if there is anything else I should do while I have the transmission out? I was thinking about changing the rear main seal if its easy? what else?

How many miles on this truck? Less than 100k I would leave the rear main alone. Over 150k I would probably change it.

it has 160k. it doesn't leak from the rear gasket, but the Tcase leaves a trail. wheres the best place to get a gasket kit for the 241? is the rear main seal easy to change?
what about the chain inside the transfer case? I should probably change that too.
the only time I see my trans temp go up is while offroading, I think I got it up to 220 once when I was trying to get unstuck.

...and you really shouldn't have to do anything to your transfercase.

hi
most likely transfer case leak is realy the rear seal in the trany , easy to change when case is removed .
does the fluid level drop in the trany or the tranffer case ?

it doesn't leak bad enough to notice a drop in either one.

back to the top, I got a t-case saver and new seals to put in. the chiltons book I have says to not re-use the nut for the flange that the front driveshaft bolts to, is this true?

anyone know where I can find detailed instructions for removal and installation of a transmission, and rebuilding a NP241?

im pretty sure I can do it without, but want to make sure im not missing anything.

going to buy a new rear main seal also.
