This isn't a boost fooler. This is just for controlling the amount of boost. A boost fooler is electronic. It fools the electrical signal to the ecm. To do that it plugs in between the MAP sensor and the MAP sensor plug going to the stock ECM.

ok,, so are the effects of this manual adjustment different than the electrical fooler? I figured that if I used a manual adjustment I would also need the electrical fooler to keep from getting a error code. I have no experience with these... Don't want to sink a bunch of money!!

That is correct. With the manual adjustment devise like this, you can bump up the amount of boost, say up to 30 or 32 psi. Kewl, more power for you. But the MAP sensor will relay that, via electrical pulses, to the EMC and you will get an "over boost condition" code. Thats where a boost fooler comes into play. It get the higher boost reading and relay that at a lower number to the ECM so it would set a code.

If you want to save money, buy just a boost elbow and a boost fooler from BD Power or simular place. Boost elbow runs about $30 and the fooler maybe about $60-$70..........

You can make your own. Use a pnematic pressure regulator between the intake and sensor. Set the regulator at 15 psi and the computer doesn't know the difference.

Huh...... thats a good idea. Have you tested this theory? How well does it work?

Thanks,,, for all the advice,, I called J. Jessup and he said these boost foolers are pretty good. (no specific brand). With the mods he did, I show 32psi on my gauge. I am looking to get these egt's down. I pull around 30K on a goose neck at times and I have to be really carefull. Not saying that I would do anything stupid even with a fooler setup,, I just was trying to get more info.

Once again, that is not a boost fooler. It's just a manual boost adjuster. It has not connection with the electrical MAP senor to ECM curcuit. It just mounts in between the turbo and the wastegate via air tubing, controling when the wastegate opens and closes.

If you're already hitting 32 psi, you don't need it. And if you're hitting 32 psi and not getting a code, you don't need a "boost fooler" either. Your Jim Jessup Tune must have a built in boost fooler, like my XZT+ has. Unless you have head studs and a ringed head, you don't want to go any higher than 35 psi.

Besides, a "boost fooler" will give you NO performance gains. It will just fool the ECM so it doesn't send a code.

Where are your EGT's now? There are other ways to cool them down, if needed.

just curious if that HO pump in your sig is an ETH pump or a Hot Rod pump??

and yes, if youre already at 32psi you will not need an electronic boost fooler as it seems you already have it. you may benefit from a mechanical boost controller to increase your number to ~35ish.

here's how to make your own... http://my.is/forums/f114/homemade-ma...esting-327659/

not sure what eth is,, but Jim told me it was a factory-new h.o. pump with the new design updates. He had a bullitin from one of the engineers at the tech. center (Jim retired from Cummins,, that is how I know him,, I work in Fuel Systems) Anyway the bullitin showed components that were prone to fail.. and this new one does not have it. My Egts run approx. 900-1100 when under load and lugging. Most of time I don't get out of 4 gear when I have a large load on the gooseneck. I wish I had the 6 speed.. seems like there is a gear missing between 4 and 5 to me..

900-1100 under load and lugging. Thats pretty good. Thats where I'm at while towing also. If you're lugging it, yeah the EGT's will seem to get hot. You have to get the turbo to spool up a bit to cool the EGT's. I'd suggest, in that situation, you pull it out of overdrive, get the rpms up to spool the turbo up and you'll see lower EGT's.

Opps, just noticed you have a 5 speed. In that case you still need to drop a gear in the above situation.
