It appears to be a FASS pump. You'll find that many folks on here run them. Most seem to like them but there have been a few problems I've read about. They are a little pricey for my liking, I did a BD pusher pump kit for about half the FASS. There are flaws with almost any fuel delivery system except the manual transfer pump in the 12 valves or those that have changed a cam to work with the manual pump on their 24v.

The FASS is a good overall system though. Good luck, Matt

I'm using the FASS also. It's been reliable for me.

it says it can :

Consistent Engine Performance
Increased Horsepower
Increased Fuel Economy (Saving 8% or more)
Drastically reduces the effects of "Hot Fuel"
Easier/Quicker Starts
Reduced Engine/Cab Noise
Improved All-Weather Performance
Drastically Reduces/Eliminates Black Smoke
Reductions in NOX and Carbon Monoxide
Excellent Cold Weather Performance
Smoother Idle and Quicker Throttle Response
Extended Fuel Filter Life
individual results may vary

but it does not say it will help pro long the life of the VP44

There's also the MITUSA, or RASP belt driven pump that works off a pulley you install on the front dampener. It's pricey but I love mine it's the last thing im worried about on my truck. Stock carter lift pumps go out when ever they feel like it, been there done that went through about 4 lift pumps and all the trouble, and the FASS system has had it's problems. Just a little imput

These are the performance claims across the many applications of the Fass including our trucks. Fass will provide consistant fp to the vp44 which is what we're looking for, but if I was going to spend that much I'd spend a little more and go with one of the mechanical options.

*Hp gain on a 2nd gen? I don't think ya can force feed the VP44.
**I always doubt such claims
***If a fass would eliminate my black smoke I'd buy one. Still doubting
**** I think this one is the key

A guy named Steve Opocensky "Opie" from washington state. He actually designed the Rasp KO Pump but this one in almost identical but made with better material.

Intelligent Engineering Inc.
"Abusive Parts Solution"

I can't find his web site but he also makes billet tranny parts.
