There is no such thing as a stage IV for hx35, but there is a stage IV for the h1c and wh1c.

According to the manual i got from http://www.holset.co.uk/files/4_4_1-...%20manuals.php , the H1C/D/E/H2A all have a removable backing plate that can be machined, whereas the HX series doesn't. Im not sure if thats the reason or not.

So when you change the wheel and the compressor cover, do you need to re-balance the assembly or are the compressor wheel and turbine wheel/shaft balanced separately? Anyone know the torque specs on the compressor wheel nut?

The nut is 120 inch pounds. make sure your torque wrench works correctly with the left hand threads. Mine WAS a click style. It didnt click left handed and you can guess what happened. Broke the shaft then broke the wrench when I bashed it over the vise..

That explains the mistake. I was talking about a hx. The backing plates on the HX can be machined for the stage III, but you have to chuck up the whole cassette in the lathe. Its not bad though...

The torque specs are 135 inch lbs if it is a 12 point nut, and if it is a six point nut the torque should be 150 inch lbs, both left-handed threads. thats the specs from my htt stage 3 kit.

Hohn,
I just installed the 60mm kit and you were right it was a bit laggy down low off the line, but was fine after 15lbs of boost. So to fix the turbo lag i just slid the plate full forward and that took care of it . The temps were down before i slid the plate, i used to peg the pyro in forth, now it wouldn't peg it until well into 5th.

Here is an email that I just recieved from Paul at HT Turbo.

Date: Thu, 10 Nov 2005 09:21:16 -0700

Hi Adam,
Many people get it all mixed up
I don't have it advertised but I do offer a Stage IV compressor BUT it is for the WH1C.
The Stage IV WH1C is the 60mm 6-blade wheel.
The only 62 offerred is our HTB2 compressor.
Sorry,
Paul

So then the stage III is a 60 mm 8 blade wheel and the stage IV is a 60 mm 6 blade wheel, right?
