Anyone running an electric fan(s)?

Yeah an electric fan would probably work but it's gonna play h#ll on your altenater pullin all those amps from it all the time. And im not sure exactly what a stock fan flows compared to an aftermarket electric fan...just my 2cents

Flexalite is one of the common cheap brands of fan that's generally highly overrated. Not sure what that fan will actually do, but you can be fairly sure that it won't pull 6000 cfm in any real world situation. I'll put it this way-I'd put that 6000 cfm one against the spal fan mentioned earlier any day.

Thanks for the wisdom everyone. One of the questions I was about to ask was NEEDED cfm and amp drawdown- it is plain that there won't be enough for my needs.
I agree there is something wrong with my fan clutch, but since I am on this trajectory I will check out the fan system by Horton, which basically replaces the oem fan clutch with its own.
At the very least I will be putting in a new OEM clutch and maybe a flex fan on top of it.

On Edit: there is no way I can drop over $700.00 on a cooling system. The Horton sounds like the cats meow but I cannot justify the cost. Looks like a repalcement OEM and flex blades.

i would go with the OEM replacement. i have replaced a few of them with OEM, and never had a problem. they either stick on, or quit completely. a new one should fix your overheating problem. just my 2.

I was just looking at those.
I need to find out at what RPM's they flatten out because my RPM's are up there when pulling a grade but crawling along.
Any flattening at higher RPM's defeats my needs when I tow into the mountain backcountry. Some of those switchback grades are unreal- you can't get any speed or you'd be off upside down into some gulch and down slope about 1000 feet the first curve. Then the grade keeps your RPM needs beginning at 1800rpm just to keep headway without a BCof D and melted turbo.
They sound great for most applications though.

The main reason people have so much trouble with electric fans is because they don't understand the importance of a properly fit fan shroud. They replace a stock fan & shroud with a powerful electric fan and then find it does not work well. This is because any fan is useless without a properly fit shroud to concentrate the airflow.
I'm not saying an electric fan will work for towing with a CTD, but I would imagine there are probably electric fans made that can/will push just as much air when properly fit with a shroud.
