Anyone got the New FASS?

Anyone got the New FASS?
Anyone got the new FASS, the one that doesn't have the filters on it? I am wondring about the install kit, and how the fittings are, on it.
I just went through a kit today, from anothe rmanufacturer, featuring a Holley Blue pump. While I can't say anythign bad about the Holley Blue, this manufacturer's kit SUCKED. It had fittings in it that had 1/8" holes in them, which is about the size of the banjo bolts we already have problems with. The instructions are awful also. I can create my own install of a fuel system, but I'd like to have a good idea of what the mantufacturer thinks should be done before I start.
So, I'm now looking at the FASS II, to see if the kit has the right fittings and wiring in it. I have not seen many details about this on any web site yet. If anyone knows of a web site that describes the kit in detail, I'd like to see it.
The vehicle owner want to keep his stock fuel filter housing, on a 2001, and the FASS II seems like it will do the job.
Thanks,
Chris

I ordered mine from Rip, install is nothing hard, and instructions are right on. Easy to follow. I would stay away from the Holley's, I replaced 4 in less than 8 months. The FASS pump has 300000 mile warranty, and the brushes are replaceable.

I have the FASS II 95gph model -
I also like the idea of retaining the stock fuel filter and heater. The FASS II is a nice unit and looks like it should last a long time.
About the install:
1 - Mine (pump #129) included a small inline fuel filter filter for installation between the fuel tank and the fass pump. It was in the pictures but not the written instructions. No big deal. However I only received 1 hose clamp and ended up using 6 or 8 (double clamp in some places). So I would check that first to make sure I didn't get started and then need a run to the hardware store.
2- Regarding the fuel fittings and hose and inline fuel filter - they were all there (3/8ths) with a generous amount of hose (even with the Quad cab & long bed).
3 - Some have complained about the quick disconnect at the fuel tank taking in air, so they have used hose clamps there also. I used the quick disconnect supplied with the kit and have had no problems. (Note - getting in there to disconnect and reconnect without dropping the tank is a PITA but it can be done)
4 - Instructions said to mount the relay switch high as possible. The trigger wire is the stock lift pump harness. On the FASS harness the distance between where the FASS pluged into the stock lift pump harness and the FASS relay was a bit short to mount very high on the firewall. Note the rest of the harness was generous.
Rightly or wrongly I expected 15psi at idle with little or no decrease at WOT. What I have is 12psi at idle to 8 +/- at WOT. There is some discussion about a replacement spring to change that.
Rip has been a great guy to do business with.
I called DPP with a question about the lift pump pressure. The secretary said everyone was busy so I asked her to have someone call me back and she took my number. I haven't received the call and at this point don't expect to.
Check out this thread for a similar discussion.

I just had the Fass II 95gph pump (#249) installed on my truck yesterday. Before the pump I had 11psi @ idle and 4psi @ WOT.
Now I have 16+ @ idle (estimated, gauge is 0-15PSI) and 14 @ WOT.
This is something I would have done myself if it was springtime (or somewhat warmer than the 25 degrees it's been). The guys at MassDiesel did a great job. As far as the relay, they used a tie wrap to attach it to the harness that runs along the top of the firewall.
It was the first install on a short bed QC they had done so it took longer than expected. Overall it went great and I'm pleased.

I was reading the instructions on the PP web site and, do my eyes deceive me, or are they saying this is a pusher pump for the factory lift pump?
http://www.acptee.com/dieselpp/pdfs/...stallation.pdf
"Disconnect factory fuel line from inlet side of the factory fuel pump and install
the 3/8” x 3/8” (Push Lock x 90º Female Flare) fitting into this inlet port. Torque
to proper specifications."
It appears that they offer a kit to use this as a pusher pump. Why would anyone want to do that?
Thanks,
Chris

Look closely, the instructions you are referencing are for the FASS HPFP-95-1001 and it is for 94 to 98 12 valve.
If you are going to install it on the 24 valve you want the FASS HPFP-95-1002.
As to why anyone would want a pusher on a 12 valve, good question, I don't know.
Good luck,
George

It does connect to the factory lift pump, however the lift pump is unplugged and rendered useless. The FASS wiring harness plugs into the lift pump harness.

Also there is no 300,000 mile warranty. The life expectancy of the pump is 600,000 to 800,000 miles as stated by DPP. There is however a 4 year warranty as long as you fill out the registration and send it back to DPP.
I've had two return phone calls now from Ronda at DPP, and she told me that Mark did source a new stronger spring; not necessarily for higher pressure, but for longevity. It should be here today, on their dime....good customer service so far imho.
The install was easy and simple to follow. A 90* drill is almost a must....I used a regular drill, but it was a little more of a pita.

NO, it does not connect to the factory lift pump. From the FASSII pump, the fuel line goes directly to the factory fuel filter housing. My factory lift pump is sitting in a box under my workbench now.

OK, I'm straight now. I feel good about this kit, and I recommended it to my friend. I also wanted to know cause I got a feeling I'll be the one installing it.
Thanks to all,
Chris
