anybody care to analyze/critisize before i seal 'er up?

getting ready to finalize stuff and am hoping for some feedback. due to the constraints of my engine compartment, i think i might have to put a remote mount oil filter on, and the exhaust will be very tricky. other than that, everything seems like it will work. whaddya think? thanks

dave

oh yeah, PICTURE IS HERE

Is there a reason why there's an extra connector hose between the cold air stages? That pipe will want to blow off the front of the top charger. I think you'll have better luck if you were to weld that connection instead. Mine's solid and I still blew the boot off the top charger once. I can't imagine 2 boots holding the pipe to the housings without reinforcement. Please don't take it as a slam, just something to consider.

i'd love to do that, but welding steel to aluminum is REALLLLLLY hard. i ended up getting the v-band clamp elbow (i have a ht3E) for less $ than the ones that pipe is made out of. plus, i don't have to machine the v flange off the compressor housing. you thinking that whole pipe is going to shoot through the grill? i'm going to put some pretty aggressive beads on there. think it'll do? thanks for the heads up.

LOOKS GREAT!!

Buckel it up and drop the hammer

You can always add a "safty wire" on the pipe to save the grill

Install the boot with hairspray. That and the beads will keep the boot on I think.

Looks awesome! I love the hot pipe from the top turbo to the bottom turbo, that ought to maximize the flow that the wastegate is capable of. Did you have time to move the pin closer to the pivot to get the flapper opening farther?

Blatently stolen from George's site:

You could use weld keepers on either side of the connection and use turnbuckles to keep them together. Who knows, you may not need them.

WOW. that's a pretty beefy setup. it actually shows something i was wondering about. some people use 3" between the turbos and some use 4". kinda wondering what the difference in performance is, if noticeable.

I've got no idea if 4" is better, but it just looks massive in the engine compartment. Again, that's not my truck in the photos.

Did you mod the wastegate of the top turbo so it will bleed off the front 3 cylinders too? Or do you run an external wastegate?
How do you support the weight of the twins?

I'm really curious since I blew my head gasket and this is an opportunity for me to do some more stuff

yes. i drilled the exhaust housing when i ported it a while ago. the majority of the weight will be held by a bracket underneath the turbo. it will function as the oil drain tube bracket as well. gonna bolt it to the 2 empty holes on the engine mount plate deal.

here is a new pic. made a couple adjustments, and then welded. gettin close. i can't wait.
