Any way to tell?

Is there any way for the dealer to tell if an 02 truck has had a box such as an edge or big hoss on it? The boxes that don't tap the wire.

They can (only if they wanted to) go into the computer and dig around in there and it will show that it had either a over boost or more fuel or timing adjustment in which gets recorded. When i ran the 130chip on my excursion I blew the turbo and they didnt ask me any questions and replaced it. They said they cant actually go in and check it they have to take the computer out and basicly do a reflash on it in order to find something out which takes a while and is not worth there time unless its obvisous that it was caused by the box.

What about a ECM/VP pump module reader.

I thought I heard from one of the techs once that there is certain codes stored in the VP's module that will let you know what has been done???

One tell tell sign is the velcrow (spl) on top of the PDC. O and another thing, make sure you replace the boost restrictor on the turbo with the stock one. (make the wastegate open like stock)

My dad got tired of one guy that kept bringing in his truck with the boots blown off, he finally showed the guy how to replace them and said "I know you are running an Edge EZ, and if you bring this back in one more time with a blown boot I will void your warrenty"

The only reason he did that was be cause the guy was a huge jerk about it every time he brought it in.

So to make a long story short, any "sharp" service tech can tell if you have "messed" with or modified you truck. There are certain signs they look for. Just be a nice guy about it and you probably will never have a problem.

Hey guys just yesterday went to dealer to buy a remote I didnt get one when i bought the truck. Payed $30 they said they would program it free. The kid hooked up his deal he said you have a code stored. Overboost I said clear it it be alright. He said no lets see whats going on I didnt think about it but i have a superchip set on safe tow. He yells for the service manager. Luckly when I was divorced i ran around with this lady for some time and have known her for years She comes up and wants to reflash my puter I say look just program my remote and Ill be on my way. She let me slide but told me if it ever comes back i had better undo what ever i had done . So they can tell but if he had reflashed the puter I dont know if the superchip would have recovered or not but be carfull.
